One more possibility: Are you working with a framework or application object? VMP (and I think others) open ALL the tables in the default datasession when they start the application. This means you cannot open any table exclusively in another datasession, exactly what you've found. Check to see what is open in various datasessions, or check the application code for a routine that opens tables.

I've found it necessary to disable this aspect in several apps.

>I've checked and the table is not included in the project. It is also not under source code control. I can open it exclusively from the command window, or even from the form when I run it directly from Project manager, (by highlighting the form and clicking on the run button) just not from within the application or executable.
