>Drinking age is 18, growing pot is legal, is there anything that country can't >do? And to think, I've always been only 3 hours from the border...
When I was 18 (I'm 46 now) the legal drinking age was 18. The general thought was this.. if you were old enough to be drafted and die for your country you ought to be old enough to get a drink if you wanted. I still think it should be that way.
As for the pot...... If it really does help someone in the kind of pain that M.S. brings then they should be allowed to have it. No one should have to suffer.
BUT
I do not think that it should be legal. To many studies show it to be a gate-way drug and that makes it very dangerous. Of course, we are kind of hypocritical in this as another gate-way drug, beer, is perfectly legal.
I know that there are folks that can use either product and not move on to heavier stuff but I think they are both pretty dangerous. They were for me anyway and the pain that my abuse caused was just not worth any momentary pleasure that I had.
Hummmm... sounding to fatherly... so I'll quit! < vbg >
