Funny you should mention Crystal. Of course Crystal will do reports on VFP tables, SQL, etc. and a mix of the two. But also note that Crystal is installed when you install the Visual Studio .NET beta1, along with a copy of Mapx, and some neat samples as well.

The Integrated Development Environment is fascinating, you can mix in some VB script, Javascript, HTMl, C++, VB, and, of course VFP all in one application. For this elderly type, learning all this is going to be a challenge, in order to get something productive out of it other than the "Hello World" sample.

Is this what I am going to use to put all our HR applications on the company intraweb? And the paperless office?
