You are forgiven, barely. I am talking about a syntax parser that allows an SQL statement - WITHOUT GENERATING AN ERROR CONDITION - that returns an incorrect result. That is completely unacceptable and is a major bug, IMHO.

>SELECT {fields} ;
>FROM {tables} ;
>WHERE {joinconditions} AND {filter conditions} ;
>GROUP BY {expression} ;
>ORDER BY {columns} ;
>etc. and blah, blah, blah
>(which all of mine are anyway) then you'll get the right answer, everytime.

SQL syntax is supposed to be flexible enough to allow the placement of the clauses in almost any order, VFP is non-compliant and in error. Simple.

Gee, thanks for the tutorial on text files. Lewis has been a developer for over 13 years and is one of the best programmers I've ever met, period. He runs no macros. Ctrl+S is the WINDOWS STANDARD way of saving files when you wish to continue working on them, Ctrl+W is the dBase holdover that saves and closes the file. Lewis had *already* successfully saved this method 3 times previously, then it started acting up...

>Rich, I'm sorry to sound so sarcastic, but it really sounds like you woke up on the wrong side of the bed today...like underneath it.

Nah, woke up, had (great) sex with my wife, a nice breakfast, came to work, and within 1 hour saw the shit mentioned above - now I'm in a bad mood. This product is bogus and un-reliable, too bad I have so many years spent supporting and evangelizing it, I feel I've been betrayed. MS needs to fix this with an interim release and stop worrying about 6.0

>Smile, only 4 days until Friday...lol.. ;-)

Vacation starts Thur. nite, so does my hangover <g>
