Not too strong.... but what was "crass" what what I said? And where does the "imbecile" part come in? You are right -- this is a public forum. And that's why you owe me a public answer on this.

I don't buy that as a reason that I shouldn't care about your comments.

You're right -- I spoke in haste, out of defensiveness and anger. I shouldn't have said that and you have my apology for it. What I should have said -- and what I do in fact stand by -- is that a response like that was a disgrace.

In fact, you haven't yet answered my point -- the fact that I said that anecdotes are not facts, and did not refer to others by name, makes me a "crass imbecile?" Please elaborate! I did not provide names because that, in fact, seemed to be in bad form. And I stand by my original statement, that I hate these kinds of threads because people end up presenting anecdote as fact, and anyone lurking and watching should be a bit cautious in intepreting these things.

This feels to me like you are attempting a witty digression from my "anecdote as fact" comment.... but I don't get qhat you are saying. As for stating that things are my opinion, I did in fact start my post with "this is why I hate these types of threads...." (or something real close) -- which implies opinion.

Houston, have I done something else at some point to offend you? I am a little confused -- see all the paragraphs above for a detailed list of my confusions.
