It comes from knowning most of the teachers personally, knowing the superintendent and principals, and spending time around many of the students at various school events. You'll find differing standards in different parts of the country. Generally, the Deep South states tend pretty conservative in such matters as what can be referred to as "virtues" or "values of public social interaction".

Part of my point is that I could just as easily and perhaps inaccurately extrapolated from MY experience that "most teachers" do NOT tolerate profanity. The truth of what happens nationwide needs a bit more research, I think.
