This is Win2000 problem only and does not relate, to VFP on this occasion <s>.

I develop on a Dell Inspiron 7500 that is formatted Fat32, and dual boots between Win2000 Professional and Win98 SE. I use VFP6 SP3 in Win2000 and legacy 2.6 stuff in Win98. The 7500 has two 30 GB drives. The second drive "D" is in a mega bay and is used primarily for periodically cloning drive "C", and day to day backups of my work. I use Norton Ghost 2001 and PowerQuest DataKeeper.

A few days ago when in Win2000, I appeared to have lost my most recent VFP work. It turned out that all my work was on the "D" drive despite the fact that I had not copied it? It looked like Win2000 had changed the drive assigments. I looked in the MS Knowledge base and found Q223188 "How to change the system boot/drive letter in Win2000".

I followed the advice and the problem appeared resolved. To my surpise, when I went in Win98, the drive assignments were the reverse of those in Win2000???

I took the drive "D" right out of the 7500 and tried to reboot. I got the following message: (The Logon User Interface) "D:\Winnt\System32\Awgina.dll failed to load".

It was looking in drive "D" which had been removed prior to booting from drive "C". Obviously, the full Win2000 setup is on "C". I also, got problems with the PageFile which it said was too small or missing. Appears it was looking for this on "D" too.

Bottom line - what can I do so that the copy of Win2000 looks at drive "C" instead of "D" for these few setting? When I put "D" back in the 7500, all is well despite the fact that Win2000 is running from drive(s) "C" & "D". However, when I am on the move, drive "D" is replaced by the battery <s>, so, I need to have Win2000 functioning correctly on "C", despite the fact that most of the time, drive "D" is loaded.

Any help very much appreciated.
-=Gary
