>Are you saying every CAO should know every nuance of every detail in their business. That there is something Reagan could have done about this when he didn't know about it. Where's the proof. Typical liberal revisionism.

No, just the obvious ones, like when your subordinates are grossly violating not only the law (Boland Amendment), but common sense. He did know about the arms sales to Iran. He approved it. I can't even give him the benefit of the doubt on the diversion of funds to the Contras. His words to Robert McFarlane were, "I want you to do whatever you have to do to help these people keep body and soul together." You don't need to be a rocket scientist to figure this one out. Plausible Deniability. And not very plausible at that.

Again, how can a President be soooooo stupid as to think selling arms to Iran is not trading arms for hostages? Not only that, but after they released 3 hostages, they took 3 more!

Secretary of Defense Caspar Weinberger and Secretary of State George Shultz were vehemently opposed to the deal, and yet Reagan still approved it. This just further proves my point that you can have good advisors, but if you have rocks for brains, you are eventually going to get into trouble.

>You have no proof to support your position, nor will you ever. The only thing you have is vitriol for a great president who took this country from a general feeling of disgrace (see Jimmy "I'm too confused to make a decision" Carter and his handling of everything including the hostages) and 23% interest rates to a country that felt good about itself, and interest rates below 10%. The good times we've experienced lateley have been due in large part to the policies of Ronald Reagan starting in the early '80s.

I have Reagan's own words as proof he not only knew of the arms sale to Iran, but approved it. And his words to Robert McFarlane are clear as vodka.

And as far as the economy goes, I'll lay that at the hands of Alan Greenspan, if any one individual. Not Reagan, who did not, at any time in office, submit a balanced budget plan to Congress. Not once. Fiscal responsibility? Please, give me a break.

>As for Clinton:
>I did not have sex with that woman . . .
>That depends on what is is . . .
>I'm going to run the most moral presidency ever . . . .
>
>I hope he gets his just deserts soon after departing office. I think he'll look good in a striped suit!

And once again, I am on record as stating that Clinton should have been impeached. READ MY LIPS... SHOULD HAVE BEEN IMPEACHED! < g >
