Might it be caused by the wealth of application frameworks VFP developers use. In VFP each experienced developer uses either a commercial or self developed framework. Because of the VB language VB developers don't use as advanced frameworks a with VFP developers.

You're right that in some cases it would not make a significant difference whether to take VB or VFP, but when the project involves components with handling lots of data VFP might well be a better choice in terms of productivity.
