Hey, sounds like a situation for Systems Analyst Guy !!

How much do they expect to save or gain with the new code? If the answer is not much, you have your answer! And if they want hundreds of new special internet accessible features, the VFP solution will be your choice!

IMO, too much code is written without anyone ever doing proper work analysis! I heard a great report on Three Mile Island , where some red lights meant power was on, others meant danger, some equipment had switches set UP for on, other set DOWN!

When the cooling pump got an air lock, no one knew what the indicators meant! So they did the wrong thing!

Your situation reminds me of that, we don't know if the requirement is fast data entry, compatability with other systems, low cost, easy maintenance.

I've seen beautiful screens that just didn't work in production, because no one could follow the cursor! I've also seen simple text interfaces that were lightning fast and error free.

Get the spec in writing!

Mike
