Actually, you don't get an error in this case. The REPLACE just doesn't happen.

FWIW, the place where I've most commonly run into the "Cannot access selected table" error is when I have a list or combo based on a table/cursor and I close it. Keep in mind that re-selecting into a cursor closes the original - that'll disconnect a list or combo from it.
