>set cnNorthwind = new adodb.connection doesn't work either because then my next line "cnNorthwind.CursorLocation=adUseClient" gives invalid data or member. The code should work as is, this is how my instructor gave it to me.

Did you also changed the Public var declaration to ADODB.Connection?
