I've had limited experience with Frameworks. But one of the biggest obstacles that I've found is that
you have to not only understand the language, but also the design philosophy of the framework. That
being said the benefits of a good framework may outweigh its detriments. Since it sounds like
you have this framework in-house why don't you try generating something in it and then modifying
it to look like you want it to. That should give you the ammunition pro-con that you need.
