I am trying to determine whether to use tables as data control source in forms or not. The reason I am having to debate this is because I am not sure how this is going to affect the performance of the ERP application I am involved in developing. We have Routing & BOM tables for items and those tables are huge, anywhere from 100,000 to 500,000 records & about 5 to 10 records per item. At a time user could modify set of those 5 to 10 records per item, while modifying item record. If I declare my data control source as BOM/Routing table and I am using free tables, is it going to affect the performace or should I create cursors (smaller subsets & let user edit those)and then update the actual tables.

If you have any adivse for me, please pass it on. It will of help to me determining the right course. I would like to thank you in advance for whatever effort you make to help me understand the above issue better.
