Hi, all!

We are having some problems connecting to a remote SQL-Server.

We are running NT SQL-Server Enterprise Manager. We have our own SQL-Server running just fine in-house. One of our clients has asked us to do some work for their web-site, and we need to access their SQL-Server, which resides at their ISP.

We have:

1. user name
2. password
3. database name
4. dsn created
5. domain's ip address
6. SQL Server name

When we try to register the Remote SQL-Server, we get the following message:


SQL Server registration failed because of the connection failure displayed below. Do you wish to register anyway?

Specified SQL Server not found.
ConnectionOpen (CreateFile())


If we press "yes", it still fails.

Anyone out there have any ideas that may help us? Are we even doing the right thing?
