I've seen problems with both DAO and ODBC lately related to the Windows Temp folder being marked System (or Hidden). I don't know if this is something that system administrators are starting to do more, but I seem to be seeing it more frequently. Anyway, it seems like there are several things that don't like a Temp folder with the System attribute set. Thanks for the heads up on Beautify.
