In California we have more people in jail serving life sentences (three-strike law) for using (not selling) drugs then for murder. This seems like a great injustice to the individual and an indication that the system does not work to rehabilitate. Somehow I cannot equate taking someone’s life with using drugs. I guess we must be protected from all sources of evil. Now how do we receive protection from politicians?

It might help society more to embrace the importance of the family and place effort into establishing equal rights for all. If a man cannot find a job to support his family all of society will suffer. Hopelessness seems to breed antisocial behavior.
