OK, I see it now. With your method we don't need the dodefault() call, but having all our valid code in a customValid might be a bigger change.
An extension to our office building required to block the exit door, and after months since that happened we still turn left to the old exit! The door to the old valid won't be hard wood, I can see us over years having code in both places. We'll hold a referendum, or flip a coin.
