Actually with the price of DSL and Cable connections these days and the falling cost of hardware, it comes out cheaper than leasing or co-locating (I found).
It's up to you to decide whether its worth it to you to spend your time initially setting it up. The other factor is up-time. You don't have to be the one on the phone with your ISP when your connection goes south or the power goes out.
The extra cost for options 1 and 2 are for "Peace of Mind". How much is that worth?
