a) Novell Client 32 problem reading a network directory for whatever reason. Unfortunately, the latest version of Client 32 causes a printing problem in another critical app at this company so I cannot even try that.

There are a lot of known issues regarding the Novell client and data access of VFP tables. You may want to check the Microsoft and Novell KB's to see if there is a possible solution.

I have fought this battle in the past, and found that the Novell client that is made for NT/2000 does not have any problems - if you can get them to one of these OS's, you may have more luck.

At the least, you need to get the latest version of the client.
