There are 2 Paradox formats, and older one which the ODBC driver can access properly, and a newer one. You've probably got one in the newer format.

I hunted around once looking for ODBC drivers for that format and there is one that is bundled with some other drivers and must be purchased. (Can't believe that someone who wants to sell a product won't make drivers available for free.)
