The MSM file is only usable with Visual Studio Installer; you need to install SP4 and create the install using Setup Wizard, incorporating the OCX itself and marking it as an ActiveX component. MSMs are used by the Windows Installer, which is usable as Visual Studio Installer if downloaded from Microsoft, or from any of several third party tools such as Wise and InstallShield that support the Windows Installer technology.

>The only way, which I've discovered, to make mscomm32.ocx work is to install for example vfp (or vb) and then uninstall it from a computer. Then you can safely install your program and it will work fine with Mscomm32.ocx.
