>>>My problem is that I can not install properly mscomm32.ocx (sp4) on a computer with Win nt 4.0 (sp6) and without VS 6.0. I haven't tried on win9x.
>>>
>>>I have created instalation disks using Setup wizard (vfp6.0, sp4) and VSI 1.1 with mscomm32.msm (sp4). The result is always the same - I can not open com port.
>>>
>>
>>The MSM file is only usable with Visual Studio Installer; you need to install SP4 and create the install using Setup Wizard, incorporating the OCX itself and marking it as an ActiveX component. MSMs are used by the Windows Installer, which is usable as Visual Studio Installer if downloaded from Microsoft, or from any of several third party tools such as Wise and InstallShield that support the Windows Installer technology.
>>
>>>The only way, which I've discovered, to make mscomm32.ocx work is to install for example vfp (or vb) and then uninstall it from a computer. Then you can safely install your program and it will work fine with Mscomm32.ocx.
>>>
>>>Maybe I need to install some additional files. I don't know.
>>>
>>>Thanks in advance,

Make sure you're installing OLEAUT32.DLL & registering it -MSCOMM32 is dependent on it.

>I have created instalation programs many times, so I think I haven't made any basic mistakes (I hope :-)) ).
>The rest of *.ocx always register well and work fine for me in both Win NT and Win 9x (no matter wheather I use VFP Setup Wizard or VSI). The only problem which I encounter is with MSCOMM32.OCX. I have really run out of ideas how to fix it.
