Arial is the Windows standard font for all the 32 bit plattform.

Of course you can use any font you like (although is generally a bad idea using fonts not provided by default to avoid having to install them with your app).

The advantage of using Arial (as in any case, sticking to Window Standards) is that your users wouldn't notice much difference with other popular applications.

Unless you are developing a highly sophisticated graphical interfase, in which you are consciously breaking with the traditional patterns (something as WinAmp or Real Player, perhaps), is recommendable to try to keep your application looking as simmilar as possible to a widely used one in your market (so Office is normally the "pattern" for business apps).

That said, you're the developer and you know your users.

Hope this helps,

>Bad experience of Arial - only when using the app in Korea or China as they use a different font.

>Bad experience of Ms Sans Serif - as soon as anyone using the large system font. (A lot of short ighted people round here!) Made a hash of screen layouts.

>>Hi,
>>
>>we have a commercial application in 16bit that we have converted in 32 bit. We received many calls and comments from our customer suggesting us to change the font Ms Sans Serif 8 to Arial 9. We are presently investigating the possibility to make the move and change the font to Arial 9.
>>
>>Personnaly, I am against it. Does anybody know any reason why we should or should not keep Ms Sans serif 8 except the fact that Ms Sans Serif 8 is the standard for windows application. I need articles, facts or anything in that sense to backup my opinion. In the past, does anybody add any bad experience with your choice of font? Is there any chance we can offend or loose some custumer with the Arial font?
>>
>>Thanks!
