>Thanks. I really need to be able to distribute the spellchecker with my app. There a re a couple of ads in FP Advisor for products (Foxspell; something from Chado,) and I'd like to know if anyone has any experience with those.

Jim,

I can personally recommend Chado SpellText. It has provided us with a solid, inexpensive spell checker. The control includes the ability to highlight misspelled text with the same red "squiggle" you find in Word as you enter text. Another feature is right-click brings up a list of spelling suggestions. The built-in dictionary seems adequate, only occupies about 800K, and you can include a text file with your own word additions. I consider the cost very reasonable for this level of performance, and so far updates have been included free after purchase.

Now for the "cons", nothing real bad - you just need to be aware of a few things. This Active-X (no doubt a term MS has renamed, I like the sound of it!) component was written to target VB, so don't try to bind the control to a VFP table. I know better, but I just have to try! Create a class to wrap it in to add VFP type functionality like Enable, UPPER(), Recordsource, ect... I think there has been a recent article in FP Advisor recently about this, you should check. Lastly, if you add additional words to the dictionary via the text file, SpellText will not "squiggle" or highlight these words as misspelled. However, the right-click listing will NOT include your additions. I have e-mailed Chado with this as my single wish-list item.

All in all, this has probably been the BEST Active-X component I have used to date. If memory serves, www.chado-software.com is their web address. Download the Demo and give it a try. Best of Luck!

James
