We all agree that Foxpro as a File Server based data centric programming language is very good, yes arguably technically even the best. And most of what companies need is data centric, is it not?

Well I haven't thrown in my 2 cents worth into this thread so here it is; No one is going to be out of a job using VFP. It is up to all of us that are using it to take a baseball bat and bash it into the heads of those seeking a database solution that if VFP is the best tool, then use it. Although I didn't care too much for 2.6, I love 5.0. I've worked just a tiny bit with Delphi, so it compiles, my stuff hasn't turned off any user yet. VB? Big bad Bill years ago promised to make Basic a major language....well he did. It's his money so he can spend it as he pleases.

Think about the wealth of knowledge that you've gained using the database. I think that my SQL and database design skills are easily transferrable to any relational database product.

Think about the wealth of knowledge that you've gained using OOP. If Visual Studio now comes with C++, J++, VB, VFP, then clearly it is shipping with a common set of design tools. Does anyone really care whether you are writing method code in C++ or VFP? I don't and I don't know C++ very well....yet.

Well, I need to do some more work.....VFP is beckoning to me, calling me to work it, tweak it, make it pretty and provide the solution to the user that makes them happy.
