16 bit applications refer to that developed for the old DOS/Win 3.11 plattform, that ran in 16 bit processors (pre-386).
For the Fox family that means all versions prior to VFP3. Since VFP5 the code is natively 32 bits.
Actually, you could leave to the user the desktop font configuration. In that case, maybe the best thing would be to take the Windows' config, and not asking for it in your system.
Anyway, it would put a little performance penalty on your control's instantiation.
