Jun Jun,
VFP6, (and even more in VFP7!) has a lot of improvements in the database which enhance our ability to preserve database integrity without having to program it all ourselves.
You can read about this in the MSDN Online Library at
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?URL=/library/devprods/vs6/vfoxpro/foxhelp/dgWorking_with_Data.htm.
I'm not sure what the capacity of FPD was, but VFP is still limited to 2GB for each file. That means a 2GB limit for each table, a 2GB limit for each index, and a 2GB limit for each memo file.
MS Access, on the other hand is limited to 2GB for the whole package. To go larger than that you would need to purchase MS SQL-Server, which is expensive. (Another reason to NOT use VB.)
An IT consumer is always at a disadvantage if he purchases something out-of-date or unsupported. MS no longer supports FPD and FPW.
>Here in the Philippines majority of the software are still DOS based. Would the IT consumer be at a disadvantage(not considering GUI, but database integrity and capacity) if they purchase this kind of software?
