In two of my sites, both using NT4 SP5 as the NOS, already running about a year, having a similar problem with the NIC, whith the sympton like this:
We can ping the server from the station, but we cannot ping the station from the server. Actually nothing can be 'ping' from the server. This has caused a very bad network performance, and finally generating the scrolling message in the left bottom corner of my VFP 5.0 application saying "Record is not available". The strange thing is that it happens only in my sites that using Intelligence Server Adapter and the Dual Port Server Adapter. It works fine again after we change the NIC with other non Intel NIC. I wonder if anybody have the same problem, I suspect there is something with the software driver (I already used the latest version, downloaded from Intel Websites. Any comment ?
