Len,

However, Craig is recognized as an expert by most of this community and I do believe that gives him the extra responsibility of providing an explanation because it's more likely that some readers will take his posts as holy truths. Feel free to disagree with me as this is just my opinion.

The "inner sanctum" do not have to give explanations for their opinions, they are holy truths.

I'd disagree with you about those who 'hang out' here as being 'blindly worshipping FoxPro'. I guess I need to say that I've been programming with FoxPro for around 15 years now, making a terrific living at it, see no end in sight whatsoever - but I'd be the first to assert to you that if VB, SQL, Oracle, Powerbuilder, Delphi, ASM, COBOL, or whatever language suits your need better - use that language! There's no mystery here about that but I think you might be making the same kind of error in thinking that would be like someone encountering a dart club and castigating them for not enjoying and elevating foosball. That's just plain silly. This group likes FoxPro - plain and simple. That does not, however, mean that we do not like VB or any other language. I think you are the one making that 'leap' but them blaming folks here for something that has eminated from inside your head.

Also, and for example, Erik and I have had some terrifically intense discussions in the Chatter section and I'd think that it's fair to say that in some areas of our lives we are about as polar opposites as can be. Yet, I totally respect Erik and quite frankly I enjoy the challenges. It makes me think and I find that refreshing. Erik is still wrong though.. *gd&rvvffEM*

Just remember one thing.. If you take it upon yourself to elevate any given standard whereby you judge others - as you have done in your message, then you are asserting that you are of superior intellect/knowledge/wisdom/etc of enough stature to allow you to make these kinds of judgements. You may well be correct but the evidence I've seen says otherwise. And, you invite others to ask whether or not you are following your own rules. Most of us don't so it's important to be of such a mind that you don't forget that old saw about throwing rocks if you live in a glass house...

You might find some here who will take great umbrage at your remarks but as far as I can see you're just another of one of those nameless individuals that pops up now and again, says a few nasty comments for whatever reason and then disappears. I'd like to encourage you to hang out here, get to know the folks a bit, contribute a little or a lot (your choice) and I'll be that you'll find that this is a pretty good group of folks.. I, for one, would welcome you but plesse don't blame others if you ask for trouble. <g>

Maybe you're just uncomfortable in groups like this. It's very inclusive...

But remember that you will need to allow yourself to be examined by the same standard you apply to others. You might think that through a little.. <g>
Best,

DD
