I think, the best option is already proposed by Craig. But as alternative I think you could change the datasource alias (name properties of the table object) COM object somewhere (RDC or CRPE automationserver) and design your report with both the datasources and switch the datasource to use by changing its alias at runtime.

Further, it should be possible to change the datasource and it's attaching SQL statement completely (though i've got no experience in this field or whatsoever) via either the RDC or CRPE automation server. See Developer.hlp to find more info on how to accomplish that.
