>It really hurts to see that when someone asks how to overcome the "Uniqueness of PK violated" errormessage, it is only answered by "Don't reuse primarykeys. Use generated PKs". I don't have to point out that

And will probably happen many times to come. I think that I have at least observed (if not participated in) most of the threads where you argued the soundness of the practice of using natural keys, and I'm still not convinced that the practice has any merit. Call me stubborn or 'close-minded' if you will, but I have tried both ways, and your way gave me seemingly endless trouble. It's not a practice I will ever recommend to anyone, and in all likelyhood will not even give it lip service when the topic comes up in the future. It's not that I don't respect your viewpoint, it's that I strongly disagree with it. Sorry if this hurts you, that's not my purpose. Feel free to watch my every post so you can respond with your viewpoint whenever you feel necessary.

>I don't really rely much on experience (except on areas where I don't have a clue about). I've seen much developers with 15 to 30 years of experience that could not write one piece of decent code within VFP.

I agree. The unwise do not learn from there mistakes or even realize that they have made one. But there comes a point _sometime_ where you have to give experience respect, because to advance technology, we have to take certain ideas for granted...

>Hmmm, maybe you should add "and Joe Celko disagrees".

Is he a VFP programmer?

>Further I must note that I know ERP software which relies on both intelligent and generated PK's (Navision, www.navision.com) and has a good PK administration. I could simply ask: Well, why aren't those developers as smart as we are ??? B.t.w. Looking at navision is a real great learning book at software development (both DO's and DON'Ts).

Is it written in VFP?

>Erik, please, don't see this as an attack on your standpoint.

I haven't.

> Personally I do see you as one important expert on this forum (and this is not based on you GURU or MVP status) on which my much of my standpoint does not apply.

Thank you.
