The differences between browsers abound. Some people would blame Michel fournier for not making UT cross-browser compatible, but having wrote enough code for the web I know this is terribly hard to do, and responsibility lies as much in MS as in Netscape, as in the W3C.

Both companies implemented things beyond the standard, but the truth is that they can't wait the W3C to standarize everything, as they take months (or years) to do it.

Results are that one have to choose, and IE has around 70% to 90% market share (depending on what statistic you see).

Something to blame (really) is that installing a browser tends to affect the others almost always. I really like Opera for that. It is the safest one in this area, although not every page is rendered as expected, too.

Finally, I stick with IE 5.5 (althoug I use Opera for some things).
