Use a terminal software to verify the existence of the detected COM port. Once you narrow down the problem it could be easier to fix.

>I have recently purchased a Gateway 2000 Solo 2300 portable computer. I have just installed NT on it and I cannot get NT to recognize the Modem. The modem is a Gateway2000 telepath 33.6 with X2. When I open the PCMCIA icon in Control Panel it does list the right modem. I have tried to reinstall the modem and that does not work.
