A workaround might be an agreement whereby you work cheap as trade for the copyright. The trick is not so much developing the system as it is in marketing it. Technology is cheap. When bigger companies buy your technology, they're really buying your customers.

You know that hollow in the gut feeling you get after you write that big system with more bells and whistles than an arcade, and more speed than an X-Wing Fighter. That moment when you realize you have sucessfully juggled 30 balls, and the automated processes you just invented will juggle them all by themselves. You know that feeling. Thats when the real work starts.No time for respite. Or so it seems:)
