>Thanks for the info. I'll check with Mere Mortals and see what they have. As far as writing an accounting package myself -- I *know* I could do it myself -- but 6 months of NO INCOME while I sit down and write it just doesn't sit right with me <s>.

Seriously, I don't think this would be an option even knowing that you seem a brilliant developer and supossing that your customer had the time and resources to pay you for that.

My company's main product is a quite big suite of applications from acconting to manufacturing. I lead a team of 8 developers and we sweat a lot everyday to keep the product evolving (and fixing bugs, of course).

A real good accounting solution is not easy to develop at all. Anyone can quickly write an order entry, a/r and invoice printing app. But when you start thinking in a REAL solution covering a good deal of a company's sales, purchasing and accounting processes, it's not so easy.

Maybe we in latinamerica had a lot more trouble being in some sort of "fiscal hell". I took looked at many US accounting solutions in all this years, and I know they are quite simpler just from a fiscal point of view. Anyway, developing and supporting an ongoing bussiness application is close to a nightmare (maybe I'm exaggerating a bit).

I do agree with the fact that having a good software package "ported" to a well known framework would be great, and surely a hit for both parties.

Fact is that most "complete" packages took a lot of time to develop, and the best ones (or at least the mos accepted) have being around since an age in which standard frameworks didn't existed or where mostly unknown.

Just opinions and ideas, Cathy.

I think your best approach have to be try to evaluate what of the products mentioned in this thread are easiery to interfase externally, and maybe which one has a look and feel closer to your development style, so both could have the most possible consistent interfase.

Good luck!
