Hi Bill,
I've put my answers with each of your questions.

Barbara

>Barbara,
>Thanks for your input. After reading closer in VFP6 pgmrs guide on Help, it points out the MS "Help Strategy". For VFP6 both FoxHelp.dbf and Win Help Workshop are not included . . . therefore, MS is "guiding us" to use html Help.
>
>Could you expand on "html Help being slow"?

Because the CHM file loads a form of IE it seems slower to start than the older HLP files did. This may be subjective, but I've heard other programmers say the same thing.

>Do you know of any examples of html help on the internet? If I have a chance to grab a working example I'll do it in a heartbeat.

Do you have any of West-Wind's products? Rich uses CHM files for all of his help. You may have some installed on your computer from other products as well - just search for files with the CHM extension.

>What does the Screen Rip screen capture program do? Capture screen shots, or what?

Yes, Screen Rip is freeware screen capture software. I chose it because it allows you to capture just the portion of the active screen you wish which makes it superb for adding graphics to Help. You can store the result as BMP, JPG etc.

>Thanks for the first hand recomendation of Rick's html help software. I know I can "try before buying" but it helps to build confidence that I'm not wasting my time.

You're very welcome....

>Finally, have you heard that vfp7 has another help strategy called Help.hsx? I read something about it but no detail, and MS isn't talking.

The HSX is the latest MS strategy, coming out with VS7 I think. Other than that bit of possibly erroneous information I'm completely in the dark about it.

>Thanks for your "help".<g> Bill

No problem...
