I am not sure if you CAN tell in a single threaded program, also, not sure from your post why you care ! ( that is to say, it is easy to know if I _WAS_ connected, but not if I _AM_ any more!

When I want to access an IP address, I use DSPing ( shareware ) to confirm the remote site is available, but since a connection may NOT be permanent, telling users whenever the connection drops may just be spreading worry!

Also, if you have files open when the connection drops, telling them you aren't connected is not much help !
