Hi, Pete.

If the only thing your hosting service provides is ODBC/ASP, the best you can do is perhaps use an Access DB and a little ASP. This is not a great plattform but it can be used for simple things.

If you need to do heavier database work, better you think in a dedicated server where you have some control over what you can do. Maybe each customer can't afford the monthly cost but you can do a pool wwith various.

The degree of control you have on a dedicated server is worth the price if you're serious about web development, and will even allow you to make lot of testing.
