A real toughie Barbara, because it breaks the rule of consistency (and thus simplicity).
While it may be better for the user, I now need two kinds of repair people. And the added mechanical componentry add more possibility for breakdown. And more work building it for sure!!!

I think perhaps I'll issue bags to users so that they can relieve themselves as needed while still protecting the integrity of the overall system.

Will that work for you?
