It may be computerized, but it driven by, among other things, the various poll rankings, which are opinions. Further, your ranking can get driven down by a poor performance by another team on your schedule. Your strength of schedule goes down and that's factored into the equation. And the strength of schedule is, again, based on opinions intially.
