Well if Doug used them, he probably optimized the components he used so they shouldn't be too bad. ;-)
And as for building everything from scratch, that works for some things and I don't mind doing it. But since I haven't written a class to do it (and I didn't know about Doug's), I use what VFP gives me. The same is true for some other VFP classes (e.g. Dataenvironment, Grid).
