I just checked this out with SQL Server 7.0 (Local). I added a column named: THISISVERYLONGCOLUMNNAMETOTESTFOR (33 characters), using the view designer that comes with VFP 6.0 (SP4) I was able to create a remote view to the table. The value I posted above was obtained by issuing AFIELDS() against the cursor returned then copying the field name into the _CLIPTEXT system variable. As you can see, all 33 characters came through just fine.
The next place to look at, I'd guess, would be the ODBC driver and version. AFAIK, 25 characters shouldn't be a problem.
