Not really. SMTP Server installs as an option just like IIS. It takes about 10 minutes (if that) to set the available options. To set it up, you use the same Management Console utility that you use to set up IIS. FWIW, I install SMTP server on my NT laptop systems. This way I can always send e-mail from anywhere; all I need is an internet connection of some kind. The alternative is to reconfigure your e-mail to use different Outgoing servers depending on the ISP you use to log in (PITA).
Both ASPEmail and wwIPStuff have great examples of how to instantiate the objects, set the necessary properties and send the e-mail.
