I agree, I just thought some explanation, however brief, should have been added. It would have given the questioner more information as to whether he should pursue the question or take the approach of informing the user to use the control panel.
The original poster may have had very valid reasons for doing what he wanted. In quite a few corporate environments that I have seen, access to the control panel is severely restricted, if not disabled.
My view is that there are times when it is preferable for an application to temporarily modify system settings, there are classes of user that you do not want to instruct in the use of the control panel.
