Serious failing in VFP-VB interface DLL, some help would be greatly appreciated

Scenario: VB DLL called to extract data from external system:

STEPS
1, Connect to service
2, request data from service
3, build a VB dataset
4, return last known reference to VFP App.
5, app “loops” through vb dataset writing out to file
6, updates sys table with last dataset ref

Results

1, While stepping through the app, all steps are completed, resulting in a correct number of records in the set

2, with the app compiled and allowed to run without interruption, steps 1 and 2 are completed 3, 4 fail and 5,6 complete OK


At some point within the VB DLLs parsing routine VFP receives a response with a dataset reference which it accepts and processes as normal but only a partial dataset is returned. I have discussed this with VB “Gurus “ but to no avail.

This anomaly is one I’ve never encountered before in 8 years of fox.
