I agree with all the other people who advised you not to do this. You don't gain anything and will regret it.
I'm willing to bet that you will have a hard time finding anyone who has done this who thinks that converting your code is a good (or even viable) option. If you can't afford a re-write you REALLY can't afford to convert it. (in the long run anyway...)
