We have approx 40 Foxpro 2.6 DOS and Windows apps. It will take us at least 10 years to re-engineer all of them in true OO VFP or PowerBuilder or Java or what ever new development tool comes along. We have 3 people with Foxpro 2.6 experience supporting these apps and only 1 with VFP experience.

So, in order to upgrade them to a current version of Foxpro as quickly as possible, approximately 12 to 18 months, we are in the process of doing functional conversions of these apps.

So far this has benn a fairly easy process. Of course DOS apps require the most work. The objects on screens and reports need to be resized and repositioned. After this cleanup work and a few minor code changes the app can be running in VFP in a few weeks. Windows apps only take a few days.
