Dear All,

I would like to share my experience on LINUX and VFP cooperation happened at one of my client.

Most of my user use NT server and WIN 95-98-NT LAN. They have no speed problems with my apps.

Recently one of my client switched to LINUX file and pinter server.
Before that event, they always pushed me to put more and more "feature" into the app even against speed degradation, because they said: "We will buy more and better hardver, doesnot matter"
And suddenly they complained about poor performance. I went there and really, my "race horse" app ran like a slow river.

After some testing and quarelling with them, that took a whole week, we concluded that their Linux wasnot setup optimally for this purpose. As their IT administrator said the response time was set to long. (They always showed me that other apps, that copied a single but large files was running quit well.)
Of course, I know very little about LINUX settings.

So, some experiments:
- no client really think seriously they want. (Speed vs features)
- you must have enough knowledge (detailed) about the IT enviroment where your app works.
- test on every imaginable platform.
