>>And don't forget that people usually write when they're stuck with a problem; they usually need just an idea, a finger pointed to the source of the problem. And they need it fast, not completely accurate, foolproof tested...<<
I think that sums it up. If anybody *does* expect fully functioning code and complains if they do not get it, they should be directed to a local consultant who can provide that sort of commercial assistance. If people just want ideas or pointers, this sort of forum is ideal.
Certainly if *I* ask for assistance here it is because I've come up against a brick wall and hope that somebody who has "been there, done that" will give me a clue to get me going again. I do not want a fully functioning solution and if nobody answers, I do not complain. On the other hand if somebody answers with something incorrect and sends me off on a wild goose chase, I think I'd be a bit peeved. If that makes me "ungrateful" or "selfish", so be it.

"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us."
